日本語用論学会では、2015年12月5日（土）、6日（日）に
名古屋大学にて第18回年次大会を開催いたします。

延長しておりますので、皆様の奮ってのご応募をお待ち申し上げております。
[The 18th Annual Conference of the Pragmatics Society of Japan]

We are pleased to announce that the Pragmatics Society of Japan will be
holding its 18th Annual Conference and is calling for paper presentations.
With Professor Nick Enfield as a lecture speaker, our 18th conference aims
at bringing together students and researchers working in this growing field
of pragmatics and its related areas.
【応募要領】
発表の種類にかかわらず、申し込み原稿はすべて同じとなっております。
申し込み原稿は、用紙サイズをA4とし、日本語の場合は2,500字以内、
英語の場合は500 words 以内で作成してください。参照文献は文字数の
制限に含めません。
様式は自由としますが、所属と氏名は記入しないでください。ファイル
形式は、Microsoft Word形式（doc、docx）か、PDF形式（pdf）しか受け
付けておりませんので、あらかじめご了承ください。
ワークショップの申し込みについては、代表者が全員の発表要旨を一つの
ファイルに取りまとめてください。

[Call for Presentations]
Submission of Abstracts:
Abstracts are invited for paper presentations on any aspect of pragmatic
analysis from a variety of fields, including historical pragmatics, cognitive
pragmatics, the interface between pragmatics and other disciplines, inter-
language pragmatics, social pragmatics, comparative or contrastive pragmatics
studies.
Abstracts must be in English and must be submitted electronically on our
online submission page, as attachment files in MS Word format (*.doc, or
*.docx) and, if possible, in PDF format (*.pdf).
Abstracts should be approximately 500 words in length, not including
references, figures, tables, and graphs.

1. Plenary Lecture: Universals and diversity in language use:
explorations in pragmatic typology
Professor Nick Enfield (University of Sydney)
Abstract: For decades, linguists have made much progress by systematically
comparing phonological and morphosyntactic features and subsystems of the
world’s languages in an attempt to answer the following two questions.
(1) In what ways are all languages the same? (2) In what ways, and to what
extent, do languages differ? However, relatively little typological work has
addressed universals and diversity in the pragmatic domains of language usage.
In this talk I will discuss some new comparative research comparing language
usage in very different linguistic and cultural contexts. Case studies from
the domains of requests, turn-taking, and other-initiated repair will be
presented, with discussion of their implications for the relation between
language and cognition.
