日本認知言語学会では、2022年度「認知言語学セミナー」を9月2日（金）にオンラインで開催いたします。
講師はBarbara Dancygier先生（University of British Columbia）で、大学院生・若手研究者向けに
入門講義をしてくださる予定です。
本セミナーに参加を希望される方は、（翌日から開催される第23回全国大会とは別に）8月31日（水）

Viewpoint phenomena in language and multimodal artifacts
概要：
Viewpoint is a conceptual category which often evades clear definitions, and yet it permeates communication in a number of ways. In this seminar, I will show how the concept is necessary for us to explain a broad range of communicative forms. I will also demonstrate how all discourse relies on multiplicity of viewpoint (so there is never just one viewpoint expressed) and how viewpoint networks are constructed in discourse. In Session 1 of the seminar, I will first look at a range of grammatical forms in English (e.g. the viewpoint potential of the genitive, the discourse role of indefinite articles and proximal demonstratives, negation, personal pronouns, and the use of temporal adverbs such as now and then). We will end Session 1 by considering the use of the viewpoint-related concepts in extended discourse, especially narratives (novelistic and cinematic). In Session 2, we will consider viewpoint patterns in multimodal and visual discourse, such as street art, internet campaigns, representation of climate change in campaign posters, creative advertising, and the like. I will close the seminar by showing how embodied aspects of communication participate in viewpoint construction in genres such as stand-up comedy. Overall, the seminar will demonstrate the complexity and pervasiveness of viewpoint phenomena and propose some theoretically useful ways to approach viewpoint from the cognitive linguistics perspective.
